5 Step natural day makeup

So it’s finally 2018 and maybe one of your plans for the new year is to learn how to do super quick and super easy makeup that won’t break the bank. If you don’t really know how to apply makeup, don’t know what to buy or are just starting out your makeup journey I got ya guuuurl (or any-freaking-one who wants to dabble).

In this post we will be discussing what 5 makeup products to use that will give you an ultra simple makeup look for work or brunch or for wherever you want to go while looking more put together. The products that will be discussed in this blog are products that I have personally tested and that suit my skin tone, please feel free to use what ever colours you like and that suit you. Also add or subtract products to suit your needs because makeup should be fun, flexible and done in a way that makes YOU feel good.

Step 1: The base.

For an easy and quick day look I always reach for my BB cream. It is easily applied over my sunscreen and gives a lovely light coverage,  it can be applied with a brush, beauty blender or fingers. I personally prefer to use my beauty blender (knockoffs work just as well BTW) because I also use it to blend in other steps. If you have oily skin you might want to try a powder foundation, also add a concealer if you are so inclined.

The Garnier oil free BB cream is the one I currently use.

Step 2: The glow.

Highlighter is all the rage right now, and with good reason. Adding a highlighter gives you that healthy, dewy, I-slept-8-hours-last-night look that is coveted by many. I prefer to use a cream highlighter, especially when in a hurry, cream products are easy to blend and do not cling to any dry spots on your skin. Simply dab some highlighter on to the cheek bones, chin, cupids bow and around the inner corners of the eyes and do a quick dabbing with your beauty blender and done.

I love the e.l.f. Dewy Drops Liquid Illuminator for a lovely glow.

Step 3: The taming.

My brows are often each sticking up in their own direction, to tame them a bit I use a brow gel. Brow gels are very easy to use, making them great for beginners, and can make quite a big difference in your overall appearance. There are many different kinds of brow gels to choose from but I like to use some with a tint to make my brows appear more shaped and less sparse.

The Essence Make Me Brow gel is always in my makeup bag.

Step 4: The awakening.

Mascara is probably the one makeup product every makeup enthusiast is going to have and it is by far my favourite single product. Few things can open the eye up and enhance them quite like mascara, nuff said!

The NYX Doll Eye Mascara is amazing and comes in waterproof and non waterproof formulations depending on your needs.

Step 5: The colouring.

Here comes the fun part! The lip colour part is 100% up to how you feel on any given day, you can go as bold as you like with a bright coral liquid lipstick or as natural as you like with a barely there lip stain. Depending on the formulation you choose your lipstick may also double as a cream blush! Simply dab a little on the apples of your cheeks and do a quick dab with your beauty blender. When doubling lipstick as a cream blush always remember to start small and add product as you need.

For a quick and easy day look the NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake is my staple
