Makeup artist tips for natural beach makeup.

Beach girl

Summer is around the corner, YAY, and many of us are already thinking of going on holiday or hitting up the local beach. It can be a bit of a tricky situation if you are a person who prefers to wear makeup on these kinds of outings, I am by no means trying to imply that there is something wrong with not wearing makeup but if you are the kind of person who enjoys it, I am here to give you a few tips and pointers on how to not look like a runny mess after a day at the beach.

Tinted SPF.

SPF is important everyday but especially when you are going to be out in the elements luckily your SPF can double as your BB cream on beach days. The fact that SPF should be re-applied every two hours will just help give you a lasting but still natural coverage during the day.

Concealer.

If you have a blemish here or there that you would prefer to have covered you will benefit from a bit of creamy concealer, just add a touch more after swimming or re-applying SPF when needed.

Waterproof Mascara.

Waterproof mascara is a must, even if you do not plan to stick your head under the water the spray from the waves and a bit of sweat can give you a distinctive panda look, better to play it safe.

Waterproof Liquid liner.

I know liquid eyeliner does not sound very conducive to a “natural” look but it can if you use it to tight line your eyes. Essentially you run the liquid eyeliner below the upper lash line, much as you would do with a pencil liner, this technique will really open up the eyes but the makeup will stay put without looking dramatic.

Cream lip and cheek  products.

Cream based cheek product will stay in place way better in damp environments and will aid in giving you a healthy glow, if these can be used on the lips as well even better because who wants to carry around extra products, it is also very helpful in hiding the white cast that high SPF lip balms often leave (yes SPF for the lips is necessary).

Pro tip.

To help prevent your products melting or spoiling in the heat try keep them in a small cooler bag (like a lunch bag) to help keep everything at a lower temperature.
